Congressman Walz Visits Leading Minnesota Electronics Company Creation Technologies, Honors Veterans

IPC and IPC-Member Company, Creation Technologies, Host Visit as Part of Ongoing Effort to Connect Electronics Industry with Policymakers

Vancouver, BC | April 8, 2015

Makela and Euer, along with IPC’s Vice President of Government Relations, John Hasselmann, emphasized critical industry issues including those championed by IPC in its recently released Global Policy Framework for 2015. These included Driving Technological Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing, Promoting a 21st Century Economy and Workforce, and Advocating for Smart Regulation.

During the visit, Rep. Walz also toured Creation Technologies’ high‐tech manufacturing facility, which has served OEMs in the Midwest since 1968 and today offers commercialization and supply chain solutions for complex electronic products from sophisticated industrial controls to medical devices. The ITAR‐registered facility also has a long history supporting OEMs in the defense and security markets.

“We appreciate the Congressman taking the time to visit Creation Technologies in St. Peter,” said Makela, “and to discuss our perspective on current regulatory and economic issues impacting our industry. We had great discussion around how Congress can help manufacturing companies like Creation Technologies maintain our talented workforce to support growth, provide educational opportunities for our people, and advance innovation and technology in the U.S.”

Prior to being elected to Congress, Representative Walz was a public school teacher for 20 years, and served for 24 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. At a Meet and Greet with the entire St. Peter team, Congressman Walz formally recognized the 17 Veterans working at Creation’s St. Peter business unit, some of whom served directly with him in the National Guard. Rep. Walz presented each Veteran with a commemorative Congressional coin in recognition of their service. In addition, the Congressman presented John Makela with a certificate recognizing the Creation Technologies’ St. Peter business unit’s support of the “I Hire Veterans” program.
